“Neil started working with my daughter in November 2019. She was 12 years old. Lily tried all sorts of team sports and had some natural ability towards some but the only one that stuck was cheering. She cheered from 3rd-7th grade. 8th grade was canceled because of Covid. As her mom, I think the fear of failure or not being good at something was at times paralyzing for Lily, so she became adamant about not trying another team sport but was willing to work with a coach.
Neil understood that developing trust and rapport was more important than setting exercise goals early on. He spent a lot of time getting to know Lily, her likes, her dislikes, what brings her joy, what brings her frustration.
He simply got her moving by talking. He made up games, they went for walks, he learned when to push and when to not. Lily started to look forward to her workouts with Neil because they were fun. Neil was able to build in conditioning and functional fitness simply by making it fun.”
